Nature: Alarm Sounding

On Monday morning, January 22nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an automatic fire alarm sounding at a multi-residential apartment complex.

Emergency response units from the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments include accessing and evaluating the building to ascertain why the alarm is sounding, all occupants were outside of the apartment complex, audio and visual alarms were present with efforts to silence being coordinated as evaluation of the incident continued as well as a water flow concern.

It appears that alarm system was activated for an unknown reason and the alarm contractor was alerted for response to the incident location.  The fire suppression system was discontinued and the maintenance responder was approximately 45 minutes away.

All apparatus was authorized to return to their respective stations and the facility was placed on officers call for the next 12 hours.
