Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics

Location: 28799 Mount Joy Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Friday evening, January 19^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident involving a single vehicle roll-over into the trees.  Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics, the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, and the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper 2. 

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80, Tanker 80, Utility 80-11 and Chief 80-15 from the Oak Orchard area and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments include vehicle stabilization, assistance with patient stabilization if needed, traffic control, remove of tree limbs that were on top of the vehicle, and overall incident mitigation.

It appears that a Ford Explorer SUV was traveling on Mount Joy Road near Maryland Camp Road when it left the roadway, overturning, and going the trees.  One occupant of the vehicle was evaluated by responding EMS personnel and one occupant was gone.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control with the closure of Mount Joy Road for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police Aviation unit was cancelled.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
