On Friday evening, January 19th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an automatic fire alarm sounding at a multi-residential apartment complex.

Emergency response units from the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company included Tower 80, Tanker 80 and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Brush #80-0 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments include accessing and evaluating the building to ascertain why the alarm is sounding, all occupants were outside of the apartment complex, audio and visual alarms were present with efforts to silence being coordinated as evaluation of the incident continued.

It appears that when the utility service was restored to the area it caused the activation of the fire alarm system.  The utility service was out as a result of the early vehicle accident on Long Neck Road.

All apparatus was authorized to return to their respective stations.
