Nature: Gas Leak

On Friday afternoon, January 12^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a gas leak incident at the Rite Aid Pharmacy on John J. Williams Highway near Long Neck. 

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included incident mitigation efforts to verify and identify the source of the gas leak, evacuation of the facility, and isolation of traffic in the area.  Rescue 80 was assigned to the fire hydrant while Engine #80-3 performed the other duties as requested.

It was reported that there was gas odor / gas leak at the front entrance of the building.  The occupants were advised to evacuate the building pending arrival of emergency response personnel.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the closure of the traffic lanes near the Rite Aid facility.
