Nature: Appliance Fire

Location: 35056 Sea Waye Lane Rehoboth Shores, DE 19966

On Thursday evening, January 11^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an appliance fire on Sea Waye Lane in the Rehoboth Shores development off Long Neck Road.  It was reported to be a dryer fire within a residential structure.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 and Chief 80-15 from the Oak Orchard area and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included an initial exterior and interior assessment, evaluation of the dryer and electrical components which identified that the dryer element was not functioning properly.  The dryer was disconnected from the utility service and the homeowner will need to repair or replace the dryer unit. Assistance was offered with natural ventilation.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control assistance for the duration of the incident.

All units were authorized to return to their respective quarters.
