Nature: Peninsula Lakes Residents Donate Pet Oxygen Masks & Supplies
Location: Station #1 – Oak Orchard
Address: 32628 Oak Orchard Road, Millsboro, DE 19966
On Wednesday evening, January 3rd, a group of concerned citizens from the Peninsula Lakes development donated pet oxygen masks and supplies to the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company and the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.
Pat Halok, spokesperson for the group provided an introduction of their respective program and attendees to highlight their contribution to the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company and the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad. Each facility was provided a pet oxygen mask kit to assist during times of need.
Pat highlighted that this group consists of pet lovers and that losing a pet in an emergency incident can be devastating! These donated kits included 'rescue alert stickers', pet oxygen masks that can fit a multitude of animals, a bright oxygen pack with leash, oxygen hose, and other needed supplies.
While first responders attempt to get pets safely, they may not be able to revive them unless they have the proper equipment – i.e., pet oxygen masks. These specially designed animal masks can be used both on conscious pets that have suffered from smoke inhalation and pets that need to be resuscitated after losing consciousness from exposure to smoke and toxic fumes.
The Indian River and Mid Sussex Rescue Squad are extremely appreciative of these generous contributions and have been placed in-service at the respective station.
