Nature: Vehicle Accident

On Wednesday morning, January 3^rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Long Neck Road in the vicinity of Harry’s Hardware.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics. It was reported to be a two-vehicle collision on Long Neck Road.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included assistance with patient stabilization, vehicle stabilization, traffic control, assistance with patient removal from vehicle, fluid and debris recovery, and overall incident mitigation.

It appears that a white commercial utility van and Toyota pick up collided on Long Neck causing significant damage to both vehicles.  Some occupants were transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observations.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control on Long Neck Road with complete closure for intermittent intervals.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
