Nature: Vehicle Accident – Fire Police Requested
Location: John J. Williams Highway between William Street Road and Maryland Camp Road
On Tuesday afternoon, January 2nd, the Delaware State Fire Police assigned to the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company responded and assisted the Millsboro (83) Volunteer Fire Company with a traffic control assignment on John J. Williams Highway.
Three fire police units from the Long Neck cleared a previous accident on Bay Farm Road and fulfilled this assistance request.
It appears that a white Cadillac sideswiped a GMC SUV and then struck a Dodge pick up head-on while traveling on John J. Williams Highway.
The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the traffic control assistance pending the arrival of DELDOT for the duration of the incident. This segment of John J. Williams Highway was closed for an extended period of time.
The Delaware State Police are investigating.

A crash that shut down Route 24 east of Millsboro around 4 Tuesday afternoon has left one man dead and two others injured. Delaware State Police say that for unknown reasons an eastbound Cadillac driven by a 20 year old man from Lewes crossed the center line and sideswiped a GMC SUV and then collided head on with a Dodge pickup truck that was behind the SUV. The driver of the Cadillac was taken to an area hospital where he died. The drivers of the other vehicles – a 29 year old woman from Millsboro and a 24 year old man from Millsboro both sustained non-life threatening injuries.
