Nature: Dumpster Fire

Location: 23566 Sloan Rd Harbeson, DE 19951

On Wednesday evening, November 22^nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a dumpster fire on Sloan Road in the Pinewater Farms development.   The incident was reported to a dumpster on fire next to a house under construction and the house was unoccupied. 

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 and Brush 80-0 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included fire suppression and protection of nearby residential exposures, water supply, and overall incident mitigation efforts. 

Initial arriving first responders identified a large roll-off dumpster fully involved with exposure to the residential structure.  Crews were able to fully extinguish the dumpster with minimal damage to the residential structure.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Fire Marshall is investigating.
