Nature: Medical Emergency

City: Captains Grant, Oak Orchard, Delaware

 

On Wednesday afternoon, November 8th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to assist the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad a medical emergency and establish a landing zone for two incoming aviation units – Delaware State Police Trooper 2 and LifeNet-2.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck Facility and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facilities as well as the Sussex County Paramedics and the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignment called for the landing zone to be established near the most acceptable location of Oak Orchard Road and Chiefs Road.  Both aviation units were being utilized for patient transportation.

The Sussex County Paramedics in coordination with the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad provided patient care awaiting arrival of the aviation units for loading. The patients were transported to medical facilities to better accommodate their respective condition.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.
