Nature: Medical Emergency

On Tuesday evening November 7th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to assist the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad with a medical emergency and establish a landing zone for the incoming aviation unit – LifeNet 2.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck Facility and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facilities as well as the Sussex County Paramedics and the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignment called for the landing zone to be established across from the residential location in the large open field.

The Sussex County Paramedics in coordination with the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad provided patient care awaiting arrival of the aviation unit for loading. The patient was transported to medical facilities to better accommodate their respective condition.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control with the closure of Layton Davis Road for the duration of the incident.
