Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: John J Williams Hwy and Streets Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Sunday evening, October 22^nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of Streets Road.  It was reported to be two vehicle collision with one person desirous to checked out.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization and preparation for extrication, traffic control, patient stabilization, fluid and debris recovery, and incident mitigation efforts.

It appears that a blue Dodge Caravan was struck by a silver Dodge Durango while traveling on John J. Williams Highway.  The Caravan suffered extensive driver’s side damage with the occupant unable to get out and the Durango suffered front end and drivers side damage.  After the vehicle collision, the Durango continued onward striking a utility pole before stopping on Warwick Road.  The area of John J. Williams Highway between Streets Road and Warwick Road was closed for the duration of the incident.   One person was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observation.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
