Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics

Location: Oak Orchard Rd and River Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Tuesday evening, October 17^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Oak Orchard and River Road in Oak Orchard.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics.  It was reported that a single vehicle did not stop at the end of Oak Orchard Road ran over the bulkhead into the Indian River Bay.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. 

Emergency response crew assignments included assistance with patient stabilization if needed, traffic control where needed, and overall incident mitigation.

It appears that a white BMW X4 was traveling on Oak Orchard Road and continued into Indian River Bay when the road curved.  A nearby resident who is affiliated with the fire company assisted the vehicle’s occupant out of the vehicle.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control where needed.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
