Nature: Trailer Fire

On Tuesday, October 17th the Indian River (80), Milton (85), Rehoboth Beach (82) fire companies were alerted to assist the Lewes (82) Fire Department with a structure fire on Mcnichol Road in Lewes.  The initial incident dispatch was for an outside fire and then upgraded to a structure fire. The first arriving emergency response units identified that this incident was a working trailer fire. 

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Brush 80-0 from the Long Neck facility. Additional emergency response alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics.

Emergency response crew assignments included assistance as directed by the Office In Charge.  Other mutual aid companies were requested to provide standby coverages for the companies working at the fire incident.

The Delaware State Fire Marshall Office is investigating.

LEWES, Del. - One person died in an early Tuesday morning fire in Lewes. According to the Delaware Office Of The State Fire Marshal, the person was found inside a trailer.

The fire was reported at approximately 2:30 a.m. in the 3300 block of McNicol Road in the McNicol Place mobile home community.

The State Fire Marshal's office says the home was heavily damaged. The Lewes Fire Department, the Milton Fire Department, and the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company were among the crews that battled the fire.

The cause has not been determined at this time.

Lewes-area fire kills one

The fire started about 2:30 a.m. in the 33000 block of McNicol Road in the McNicol Place mobile home park. Firefighters arrived to an active fire inside the home, said Michael Chionchio, assistant state fire marshal.

One person was found dead inside the mobile home, he said. Investigators are working to determine the fire’s origin and cause. More information will be posted when available.
