Nature: Vehicle Fire
Location: 27224 Barefoot Blvd., The Peninsula, DE 19966
On Tuesday afternoon, October 10th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle fire on Barefoot Boulevard in the Peninsula off Bay Farm Road. It was reported to be two vehicles on fire in the residential driveway.
Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engines #80-3 and #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.
Emergency response crew assignments included fire suppression activities, exposure protection activities when needed, water supply activities, traffic control and scene access limitation, as well as incident mitigation efforts.
It appears that the residential occupant was attempting to charge another vehicle’s battery when the car caught fire. It was reported that both vehicles were on fire approximately 20 feet for the residential structure. The respective vehicles were a blue 4-door Jeep and a white Chrysler Sebring convertible. An immediate fire suppression attack was coordinated as well as protection of exposures with a water supply established from Tanker 80 to Engine #80-3.
The Delaware State Fire Marshall was requested to the incident location.
The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.
