Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics

Location: John J Williams Hwy and Bay Farm Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Friday afternoon, September 22^nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway at the Bay Farm Road intersection. It was reported to be two vehicle rear-end type collision with one male patient not alert.

Emergency response units from Indian River Volunteer Fire Company included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics, the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, and the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper 2.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, assistance with patient stabilization where needed, traffic control with alternating lane changes, fluid and debris recovery, and overall incident mitigation efforts.

It appears that a white Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV was struck from behind by a blue Honda Civic causing damage to both vehicles.  The Delaware State Police Aviation units was cancelled while responding to the incident.   One person was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observations.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
