Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: John J Williams Hwy and Eagle Lane Millsboro, DE 19966

On Tuesday afternoon, September 19^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company and Mid Sussex Rescue Squad were alerted for a vehicle accident in the vicinity of John J. Williams Highway and Eagle Lane.  It was reported to be a single vehicle accident versus a tree / pole with wires down in the area.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included patient stabilization where necessary, vehicle stabilization, fluid and debris recovery, traffic control with the closure of John J. Williams Highway and overall incident mitigation efforts.

It appears that a white Subaru Forester was traveling westbound on John J. Williams Highway and left the roadway for an unknown reason striking trees and a utility pole causing overhead wires to fall.  One person was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observation.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident. This section of John J. Williams Highway was closed for the remainder of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
