On Tuesday morning, September 19th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to assist the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad with a medical emergency and establish a landing zone for the incoming aviation unit – Delaware State Police Trooper 2.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck Facility.

Emergency response crew assignment called for the landing zone to be established at the Long Neck Fire Station on Banks Road.

The Sussex County Paramedics in coordination with the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad transported the patient from the incident location to Indian River Station #2 for the loading onto the aviation unit. The patient was transported to nearby medical facilities to better accommodate their respective condition.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control for the duration of the incident.
