Nature: Gas Leak

Location: 27570 Mayfield Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Sunday evening September 17^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a reported gas leak incident on Mayfield Road in the Victoria’s Landing development off John J. Williams Highway.   It was reported to be an odor outside of the residential structure and could be detected on the nearby street as well.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility.

Emergency response crew assignments included a perimeter search of the immediate area, an exterior search of the residential buildings on Mayfield and Raliegh Roads and could not identify any gas odor; however, an odor of burning was present.

There has been an issue with improper burning within the area and this may have been a byproduct of such activity.

All units were able to return to their respective stations.
