Nature: Vehicle Accident

On Monday, September 11^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company and Mid Sussex Rescue Squad were alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of Rite Aid.  The incident was actually located at the intersection of Long Neck Road and John J. Williams Highway.  It was reported to be a multi-car accident without injuries however and excessive amount of debris in the roadway.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, traffic control, patient stabilization where needed, fluid and debris recovery, and overall incident mitigation.

It appears that a Lincoln Towncar sedan, a white Ford F250 FX4 Pick Up, a white Ford Transit van were involved in a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of the Long Neck Road and John J. Williams Highway.  The Lincoln was attempting to turn onto Long Neck Road from westbound John J. Williams Highway, the transit van was behind the Lincoln also attempting to turn with a Ford pick traveling eastbound on John J. Williams Highway.   The Lincoln hit the pick-up that was hauling a trailer full of concrete block.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control for the duration of the incident.  All eastbound traffic patterns via John J. Williams Highway was altered for the duration of the clean up.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
