Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Entrapment

Location: Long Neck Rd and John J Williams Hwy Millsboro, DE 19966

Early Friday morning, September 8^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway near Long Neck Road.  The initial dispatch was upgraded to include entrapment which included additional alerts for the Millsboro (83) and Lewes (82) fire companies as well as the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper 2.  Other emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine #80-1 and Incident Command from the Long Neck area as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Initial arriving emergency response units confirmed that there was not any occupant entrapment cancelling all unnecessary emergency response apparatus.

Emergency response crew assignments included patient stabilization, vehicle stabilization, fluid and debris recovery and traffic control where needed.

It appears that a Dodge RAM pick up was traveling on John J. Williams Highway and left the roadway striking the Nanticoke Crossing / Weis Market marque.  The occupant was not transported to nearby medical facilities.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
