Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: Beaver Dam Rd and Indian Mission Rd Harbeson, DE 19951

On Thursday afternoon, September 7^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Indian Mission Road at the Beaver Dam Road intersection. Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, Millsboro (83) EMS Unit and the Sussex County Paramedics.   The incident was upgraded to include occupant entrapment which then alerted the Lewes (82) Fire Company for a rescue company assist.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine #80-1 and Incident Command from the Long Neck area as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. 

Emergency response crew assignments included traffic control with closure of Indian Mission Road, preparation for vehicle extrication, vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization, removal of door’s side door to extricate the occupant, fluid and debris recovery.

It appears that a silver Ford Fusion was traveling on Indian Mission Road and a grey Chevrolet HHR was entering from Beaver Dam Road when the collision occurred.  Both vehicles sustained significant damage.  The occupants were transferred to nearby medical facilities for additional observation.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
