Nature: Automatic Crash Notification

Location: Pot Nets Bayside (80)

Address:  26545 Pot Nets Rd Pots Nets Bayside, DE 19966

Early Saturday morning, September 2nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an Automatic Crash Notification incident in the vicinity of John J. Williams Highway.  The actual incident location was Pot Nets Road off Long Neck Road and found by Pot Nets Security personnel.

Automatic crash notification systems (ACNs) are also known as automatic collision notification systems. In the event of a crash where the airbag deploys, vehicles equipped with ACNs send a signal to a third party, known as a telematics service operator, who attempts to reach the driver and assess the damage and alerts the nearest emergency operation centers.  The call back personnel could hear a person crying but no voice response.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Incident Command from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police and the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, fluid and debris clean up, and traffic control.

It appears that a black sedan was traveling on Pot Nets Road and left the roadway for an unknown reason striking the fenced area.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
