Nature: Gas Leak – Second Incident In District
Location: 37190 Indian Village Rd Pot Nets Seaside, DE 19966
On Friday evening, September 1st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company received a second alarm within the fire district and had mutual aid assistance from the Lewes (82) Fire Department. It was reported to be a gas leak with a strong odor inside and outside of the incident location.
Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard location and Engine#80-1 from the Long Neck location as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.
Emergency response crew assignments included incident evaluation to ascertain the location of the origin, incident mitigation, and notification of the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC).
It appears that the source of the gas leak was from the marina area and isolated to a vessel that needed additional attention. All units were released except of Rescue 80 pending response from DNREC.
The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with the incident.
DNREC is investigating.
