Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Entrapment

Location: 28914-29171 Cordrey Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Thursday, August 31^st, the Indian River (80) and Millsboro (83) fire companies were alerted for a vehicle accident on Cordrey Road at the intersection with William Street Road.  It was reported to be a two vehicle incident with entrapment.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engines #80-1 and #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included assistance with patient stabilization, fluid and debris recovery, vehicle stabilization, traffic control and incident mitigation.  It was identified by first arriving EMS units that there was not any entrapment.

It appears that a Chevrolet Cruze and a Volkswagen Atlas collided at the intersection.  The Atlas was heavily damaged in front and the Cruze was impacted on the driver’s side.  Both vehicles went off the roadway into nearby residential properties.  Two people were transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observations.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
