Nature: Firefighter Training

Location: Station #2

Address:  25375 Banks Road, Millsboro

On Wednesday evening, August 30th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company hosted its Firefighter Training Activities which was intended to focus on maintaining accountability for personal safety and safety of others by revisiting some of the first skill sets learned as new firefighters.

Basic skills on the fireground are considered some of the most important functions which should be practiced constantly by all firefighters and will reduce the risk of injury of crew members.  Reviewing basic skills should be a part of all training evolutions.

Some of the activities reviewed were:  throwing ladders, pulling hose, rolling and racking hose, maintaining accountability for personal safety and the safety of others during training and emergency operations; mastering basic skills working in full protective equipment; mastering use of basic tools, appliances and firefighting tasks; hose evolutions (attack and supply), hooking up to hydrants, etc.

Identified herewith are a few photographs of the activities.
