Seventh Day Adventist Church Hosted Fire Prevention Initiative

On Sunday, August 20tht, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was invited to attend a Seventh Day Adventist Church’s Risk Reduction / Fire Prevention Initiative which highlighted Fire Safety and Fire Prevention discussions.

This Community Risk Reduction Initiative was intended to improve public safety and decrease loss of life and property through effective public education and community engagement.  This volunteer cohort from Indian River provided a demonstration of the fire truck, as well as a fire prevention discussion with educational and informational hand-outs for Fire Safety & Fire Prevention Topics which included but not limited to:

• Fire Safety and Fire Prevention Topics

• Touch-A-Truck – Fire Truck Experience

• Smoke Detector Distribution when requested

• Fire Truck Rides

Approximately 75 people attended the day’s events which included approximately 45 children who had actual hands-on experience.
