Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: Schooner Dr and Oak Orchard Rd River Village, DE 19966

On Thursday morning, August 10^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Schooner Drive and Oak Orchard Road in vicinity of the entrance to River Village.  It was reported to be single vehicle into a ditch with the possibility of three patients.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, traffic control, patient stabilization if needed, and fluid and debris recovery.  Additional responding emergency responses were cancelled.

It appears that a black KIA compact car was attempting to navigate the entrance to the River Village development and was not successful.  Three occupants of the vehicle were evaluated by responding emergency medical services.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
