Nature: Gas Leak

Location: 32648 Captains Way Captains Grant, DE 19966

On Friday, July 28^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a gas leak incident on Captains Way in the Captain’s Grant development off Oak Orchard Road.  It was reported to be a gas leak from the fireplace and the residence smells like gas.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Brush #80-0 from the Long Neck facility and Engine #80-1 from the previously dispatched emergency incident near Gull Point.

Emergency response units assisted the residential occupants with mitigation, verified that all meter readings were acceptable and recommended continuation with natural ventilation. 

It appears that the cooking stove burner was left on and was shut off prior to arrival of emergency response units, natural ventilation was commenced prior arrival of emergency response units, and assistance was offered to the residents.

All units were permitted to return to their respective quarters.
