Nature: Lightning Strike (Investigate)

Location: 28092 Alderwood Loop Seabrook, DE 19966

On Wednesday morning, July 19^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a residential lightning strike incident on Alderwood Loop in the Seabrook development off Autumn Road.   A neighbor reported that a house was struck by lightning and the resident now smells smoke.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignment included an exterior and interior evaluation of the residential structure, discontinuation of the solar panel energy to the residential structure and consultation with the owner to pursue an appropriate contractor evaluation of the solar panels that were impacted with the lightning issue.

All units were permitted to proceed to the next incident or return to their respective stations.
