Indian River Volunteer Fire Company celebrates 70 years of service with parade and activities

Many community residents, neighbors, and friends of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company attended to help the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company commemorate its 70th Anniversary and celebrate these years of service!

The 70th Anniversary Committee recommended and has been diligently worked to host a parade and celebrate this milestone.  Many firefighters and surrounding fire departments attended to celebrate this joyous occasion with Indian River.

The commemorative parade hosted approximately 45 units which included representation from various corporate and community partners such as:

  • Delaware State Police - Motorcycle Unit, Marked Patrol Unit, and Trooper Dani

  • Shorts Marine - Float / Display

The parade route information was as follows:

  • Line Up forming on Chiefs Road.

  • Parade Route:  Chiefs Road to River Road.  Left to Oak Orchard Road. Left to Indian River Station #1

  • Apparatus Staging after parade - Community Church of Oak Orchard

At this fire house there were various demonstrations, presentations, fire prevention informational booths, food and refreshments, live band entertainment by George Spicer’s America Lets Roll Band and recreational activities for the youth.

The recognition presentators included the Millsboro Volunteer Fire Company, the Ellendale Volunteer Fire Company, and the Ladies Auxiliary Unit from Indian River.

Indian River would like to acknowledge the corporate and community partners that contributed products and/or services to the volunteer fire company to make the anniversary successful.  These entities were:  Food Lion - Milton, Giant Foods - Long Neck, Pepsico, Dallas Wright, JNicole Photography, Grotto Pizza, and our elected officials.

The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company would like to acknowledge all the community support and favorable commentary that has been received as well as thanking all that participated to make this event a huge success!
