Nature: Wires Down/Arcing

Location: 26360-26433 John J Williams Hwy Millsboro, DE 19966

On Friday, June 30^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted a wires down incident on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of Legion Road.  It was reported that an excavator hit power lines and become entangles therein.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 form the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included utility pole stabilization and removal from the roadway upon determination that the utility service was disconnected as well as the having the utility service provider respond to mitigation the low hanging overhead wires.

An excavator become entangled in overhead wires breaking an utility pole with fell into the roadway and falling wires causing of the hazards.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
