Nature: Automatic Crash Notification – Vehicle Accident

Location: John J Williams Hwy and Hollymount Rd Lewes, DE 19958

On Tuesday afternoon, June 27^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident at the intersection of John J. Williams Highway, Sloan Road, and Hollymount Road.  It was reported to be three vehicles involved.  The initial alerts to 9-1-1 were via the Automatic Crash Notification electronic applications on the respective cell phone(s).  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, fluid and debris recovery, traffic control, patient stabilization if needed, and overall incident mitigation.  One person was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observation.

It appears that a red Toyota compact sedan and a Lincoln SUV collided at the intersection causing damage to nearby pedestrian crossing devices and striking a white Ford F150 that was making a right turn onto John J. Williams Highway.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
