Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics

Location: John J Williams Hwy and Legion Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Saturday evening, June 3^rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in vicinity of Legion Road.  It was reported to be a cyclist down with breathing concerns.  Additional emergency alerts included the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper 2 as well as the Sussex County Paramedics and Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 and Chief 80-15 from the Oak Orchard area and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. 

Emergency response crew assignments included traffic control with closure of John J. Williams Highway, assistance with patient stabilization and incident mitigation.

It was reported that a bicyclist was reported down and an off-duty medic was administering aid prior to arrival of emergency medical service providers.  Some of the additional emergency first responders were cancelled as the patient care progressed. 

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control with the closure of John J. Williams Highway for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
