Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: 33025 Conservation Dr., The Peninsula, DE 19966

On Thursday afternoon, May 18^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Conservation Drive in the Peninsula off Bay Farm Road.  It was reported to be single vehicle accident with a car into a tree.

Emergency response units from Indian River were just clearing a previous emergency structure fire incident and respond directly to the Peninsula.  These units included Tanker 80, Rescue 80, and Engines #80-1 and 80-3 as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included traffic control, vehicle stabilization, assistance with patient stabilization if needed, as well as incident mitigation.

It appears that a Lexus SUV was traveling on Conservation Drive and left the road for an unknown reason striking a tree in the center median.  The elderly occupant was transported to nearby medical facilities.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
