Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics

On Wednesday morning, May 17^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of Rust Sandwich Shop.  Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics, the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, and the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper 2.  It was reported to be a single vehicle rollover.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Incident Command 80 and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck area as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, assistance with patient stabilization if needed, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery, and overall incident mitigation efforts.

It appears that a green Ford Explorer SUV was traveling west on John J. Williams Highway and lost control for an unknown reason causing the vehicle to rollover.  Significant damage was sustained to the vehicle and the occupant was be attended to by the emergency medical services personnel before being transported to nearby medical facilities.

The Delaware State Fire Police were coordinated traffic control with rotating lane closures for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
