Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: 34081 Long Neck Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

Between:  Pot Nets Road and Church Lane

On Wednesday, May 10^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Long Neck Road between Pot Nets Road and Church Lane.  It was reported to be a single vehicle incident with utility pole and wires down in the roadway.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 and Chief 80-15 from the Oak Orchard area and Engines #80-1 and #80-3 from the Long Neck area as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Additional emergency response units included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, assistance with patient stabilization if needed, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery as well as the overall incident management.  Proper notification of the utility pole to the Emergency Operations Center was coordinated to facilitate the replacement of the pole and notification of the respective utility service provider.

It appears that a Honda CRV was traveling on Long Neck Road and left roadway for an unknown reason striking a utility pole.  The utility pole was broken and fell into the roadway with wires down. 

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the roadway closure assignment for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
