Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: John J Williams Hwy & Sloan Road, Lewes, DE 19958

On Wednesday morning, June 3rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a personal injury vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway at or near the intersection of Sloan Road. It was reported to be two vehicle both blocking the east bound traffic patterns on John J. Williams Highway.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police, the Sussex County Paramedics, the Delaware State Police, and the local emergency medical services provider.

Emergency response crew assignment included vehicle stabilization, assist with patient stabilization if needed, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery, as well as scene mitigation. It appears that silver Hyundai SUV and a silver Chevrolet Pick-up collided at or near the intersection. The Chevrolet pick-up was traveling eastbound. One occupant of the pick-up was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observations.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated limited traffic patterns on John J. Williams Highway for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
