Nature: Alarm Sounding
Location: The Peninsula Clubhouse (80)
27601 Sterling Blvd The Peninsula, DE 19966
On Thursday afternoon, April 6th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an alarm sounding incident at the Peninsula Clubhouse on Sterling Boulevard. It was reported that the Ansul System was activated over deep flyer appliances in the Clubhouse kitchen area.
The Ansul Kitchen System is a pre-engineered, automatic fire suppression system that can tackle large, hazardous fires without human intervention. It is the most widely used kitchen suppression system in the world due to its many features and mechanisms to ensure that they are the safest and most reliable solution for suppression activities.
Emergency response units from Indian River included Tower 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.
Emergency response crew assignments included an interior evaluation to ascertain and isolate any issues associated with the incident. The evaluation yielded that all issues have been isolated and authorized the occupancy of the building to return and the facility was advised to contact their Ansul System Representative for system restoration.
It appears that there was appliance fire in the kitchen with resulted in the activation of the Ansul System which fully suppressed the issue and someone activated the fire alarm pull station to evacuate the building.
The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.
