On Saturday afternoon, March 25^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an alarm sounding incident at Giant Food Store on Plaza Drive off John J. Williams Highway near Long Neck.  It was reported to be a heat temperature detector in Zone 4 of the commercial structure.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tower 80 and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. 

Emergency response crews were assigned incident mitigation efforts to identify the source of the alarm sounding.  Upon arrival at the commercial complex, the initial synopsis included a large commercial structure with nothing from side A and B with a hydrant located in the Side D / A corner of the structure.  Tower 80 accessed the front of the commercial structure and Tanker 80 was assigned to the D / A hydrant area.  Crews entered the facility and noticed no alarm sounding and no evacuation efforts underway.  Analysis and consultation with management representatives yielded no information.   The commercial structure occupants were advised to have their fire alarm system evaluated.

After further evaluation, emergency response crews were authorized to return to the respective quarters.

Immediately after returning apparatus back to service, a second alarm was received for the Giant Food location.
