Nature: Gas Leak

On Wednesday, March 8^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for gas leak on 18^th Blvd. in the Peninsula.  It was reported that a construction contractor struck a 4” gas main causing an active leak condition.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engines #80-1 and #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included incident mitigation, notification of the utility service provider, evacuation of nearby residential occupants, and scene preservation awaiting response from repair contractors.  Estimated response time for utility service repair provider was 45 minutes.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control for the duration of the incident.
