Nature: Indian River Duty Crew Activities
Location: Oak Orchard – Long Neck
On Saturday, March 4th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company coordinated a duty crew with specific assignments to be coordinated and performed at the Station #1 – Oak Orchard facility and immediate area.
The Duty Crew assignments included (1) Community Risk Reduction Initiatives; (2) Apparatus and Facility cleaning, (3) Firefighter familiarization with designated apparatus and equipment; and (4) Incident Response.
The Duty Crew participants coordinated the following activities:
(1) Community Risk Reduction Initiatives by attending two specific residential locations and installing working smoke detectors in the Oak Orchard and Long Neck communities as well as updating the Golf Cart Safety publications in various community business distribution portals and ensuring social media publications included the traffic alert with roadway closures in the fire district local area.
(2) Apparatus and Facility Cleaning tasks were coordinated that the Oak Orchard location with the cleaning and reviewing the Station #1 apparatus and making sure all units were fully equipped and operatoinal. The facility cleaning exercise was the coordination and restoration of the hall rental area in preparation of pending rental agreements.
(3) Firefighter Apparatus and Equipment Familiarization was the training component making sure every attendee was familiar with the respective apparatus at the Station #1 facility.
