Nature: Structure Fire
Location: 27377 Martins Farm Rd Milton, DE 19968
On Tuesday February 21st, the Lewes (82), Rehoboth Beach (86), Georgetown (77), Millsboro (83), and Indian River (80) fire departments were alerted to assist the Milton (85) Fire Department with a residential structure fire off Martins Farm Road near Harbeson. This was reported to be a working structure fire with multiple calls being received describing fire through the roof.
Indian River was alerted for a brush truck assist at the incident location. Emergency response units from Indian River included Brush 80-0 from the Long Neck facility and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility.
Indian River’s brush truck assignment was cancelled and authorized to return to their respective facility and Tanker 80 was requested to the scene for water supply and manpower. Additional emergency alerts to the incident location included the Sussex County Emergency Medical Services, Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office and the utility service providers.
It appears that a single family structure was fully involved upon arrival emergency response units.
Several mutual aid companies - Ellendale (75) and Millsboro (83) were requested to provide regional cover-up assignments from designated locations determined by Milton’s Incident Command. Apparatus from Lewes, Milton and Indian River coordinated a water shuttle operation from hydrants on Harbeson Road to the incident location.
The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control with the closure of Martin’s Farm Road.
The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating.
