Nature: Fire Prevention, Fire Safety & Fire House, Apparatus & Equipment Tour
Location: Station #1 – Oak Orchard
On Wednesday, February 15th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company coordinated a Fire Prevention, Fire Safety, Fire House, Apparatus & Equipment Tour for a cadre of young men from the Howard T. Ennis School. The prearranged engagement was to highlight apparatus, equipment, and tools as well as discussing anticipated skill sets to operate as an emergency firefighter first responder.
These activities reviewed the available apparatus’ functionality and discussed the purpose and intent of each tool or piece of equipment on the specific truck. There was amble opportunity for dialogue, question, and answers as well as riding in a given piece of equipment. The group also discussed various methods of fire safety and fire prevention initiatives to ensure awaress with the participants as well.
The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company would like to acknowledge the efforts of the Howard T. Ennis Staff with these activities to enhance awareness with the job tasks of emergency firefighter first responders.
