Nature: Community Activity – Pre-arranged Standby Polar Bear Plunge – Rehoboth Beach
Location: 3 Rehoboth Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971
On Sunday, members of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company provided assistance to the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company with a pre-arranged stand-by for their Annual Polar Bear Plunge to generate funding the Delaware Special Olympics. It was estimated that approximately 3,000 plungers jumped into the Atlantic Ocean.
Indian River utilized Polaris 80 to provide assistance as needed by the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company. Additional ATV units were utilized from the following entities:

Georgetown Fire Company - Station 77

Laurel Fire Company - Station 81

Delaware State Police

Sussex County Paramedics.
