Distracted Driving is 100% Preventable!

Distracted driving is not safe driving!

Distracted driving is the act of driving while engaging in other activities which distract the driver's attention away from the road. Distractions are shown to compromise the safety of the driver, passengers, pedestrians, and people in other vehicles.

Activities that take drivers’ attention off the road, including talking or texting on cellphones, eating, talking with passengers, adjusting vehicle controls, and other distractions, are major safety threats. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), there are three main types of distraction:

•          visual, taking your eyes off the road;

•          manual, taking your hands off the wheel; and

•          cognitive, taking your mind off driving.

Taking your eyes off the road for even two seconds doubles the risk of a crash or close call!

By avoiding distracted driving, we can reduce crashes, injuries, and deaths, keeping ourselves and our loved ones safe.
