Nature: Structure Fire

Location: 28187 Layton Davis Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Sunday morning January 15, Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a residential structure fire on Layton Davis Road. It was reported to possibly be an issue with a pellet stove.

Emergency response included Engines 80-3 and 80-1 from the Long Neck facility and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crews encountered a single story residential structure with a smoke evident from the exterior.   Fire suppression crews initiated a 1 3/4” attack line and began investigating. Upon investigation, the cause was determined to be a mishap with powering down a pellet stove located in the basement. A positive pressure fan was used to remove the residual smoke from the structure.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control until the apparatus cleared the scene.
