Nature: Service Call-Fire

Location: 12 Falcon Crest Dr Falcon Crest, DE 19951

On Monday evening, December 26th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a service call on Falcon Crest Drive off Beaver Dam Road.  It was reported to be a residential water leak and property owner was concerned about electrical hazards.

Indian River did respond in a non-emergency manner with Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility.

Response crew assignments were to shut off the water supply to the residential structure, shut off the electrical service to the residential structure and attempt to locate the source of the water concern.

After evaluation, it appears that the water leakage situation originated on the second floor of the residential structure allowing water to flow and saturate most of the second floor and into the floor joist and ceiling rafters of the first floor which permitted the ceiling drywall and insulation on the first level ceiling to collapse.  The structure did have significant water flow damage throughout.

Assistance was provided to the homeowner to secure a water restoration company for immediate mitigation efforts.

All apparatus was permitted to return to their respective quarters.
