Nature: Vehicle Accident

On Friday afternoon, December 23^rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Long Neck Road in the vicinity of Short’s Marine and Julia’s Lane.  It was reported to be a two-vehicle rear end type collision.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine #80-1 and Chief 80-15 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, fluid and debris recovery, traffic control and overall incident mitigations.

It appears that a silver Toyota Echo and a maroon Chevrolet Silverado pick up were traveling on Long Neck Road when the Echo struck the rear of the Silverado causing damage to both vehicles.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.  Traffic along Long Neck Road was temporarily restricted for the clearing of this incident.

The occupant of the Toyota was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observation.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
