Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: Mount Joy Rd and Cordrey Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Monday, December 19^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Mount Joy Road in the vicinity of Cordrey Road.  It was reported to be a single vehicle into a tree.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization where needed, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery, and overall incident mitigation.

It appears that a Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling on Mount Joy Road and left the roadway striking a tree.  It was stated that the driver swerved to miss hitting a deer.  Both the driver and a child were transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observation.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
